Upon graduating from the University of British Columbia, Danielle was selected by the Local Government Management Association of British Columbia to join the Cariboo Regional District in Williams Lake, B.C. as a Management Intern. As a member of the management team, Danielle was exposed to all aspects of local government operations, communications, and strategic planning.
As a Management Intern, Danielle coordinated two award-winning public relations projects, the Cariboo Regional District’s Forest Capital of Canada campaign and the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast’s interactive pavilion at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. Both projects raised awareness of new, non-traditional forest industries emerging in the Cariboo and the region’s eco-tourism and wilderness adventure opportunities. This generated positive news stories in the aftermath of B.C.’s Mountain Pine Beetle infestation and associated mill closures.
Today, Danielle uses her strong corporate writing skills when working with community leaders to develop winning funding proposals for major capital projects, new services, and First Nations initiatives.
Danielle also contributes a weekly events round-up to Vancity Buzz and is the Community Manager for the North Shore’s new online community, lowerlonsdale.ca. You can connect with Danielle on Twitter at @TheCitVancouver, a fun events guide for Vancouver citizens.
